This Sunday, millions of football fans will tune in to watch Super Bowl 50, where the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos will battle it out. But many will turn on the big game just for the commercials. More than a few automakers will run spots during the game, but some have given us a sneak peek of what we can expect to see this weekend. Check them out below ahead of the big game this Sunday.
Acura
Acura led the charge with its 30-second spot featuring the all-new NSX hybrid supercar. Set to Van Halen’s “Runnin’ with the Devil,” the automaker set out to show that the supercar is “Made in America” with red, white, and blue background lighting emphasizing the NSX’s silhouette from different angles.
Subaru
The Barkleys are back to help Subaru with its “Dog Approved. Dog Tested” ad campaign. During the Super Bowl, Subaru will not run just one commercial, but five, building on the brand’s “Subaru Loves Pets” initiative. The commercials will also make an appearance during Puppy Bowl XII on Animal Planet.
Honda
After missing out last year, Honda is back with a commercial for the Super Bowl, this time featuring the 2017 Ridgeline and its truck-bed audio system. With the help of a sheep dog, a flock of sheep, and rock classic band Queen, this spot offers a warm and fuzzy feeling for viewers.
Hyundai
Hyundai usually brings the funny to the Super Bowl, and this year, the automaker is not only an official NFL sponsor, but has enlisted the help of Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart. With four commercials, Hyundai will feature the new 2017 Elantra and 2016 Genesis sedan.
Mini
Contrasting some of the more comedic commercials, Mini went a slightly more serious route with its commercial. The automaker’s spot delivers the theme, “Defy Labels,” and features Serena Williams, Abby Wambach, T-Pain, Randy Johnson, Tony Hawk, and Harvey Keitel.
Audi
Audi’s 60-second spot features the life of a retired astronaut who learns to love life again after getting behind the wheel of his son’s new R8 V10 Plus. David Bowie’s “Starman” serves as the soundtrack, which could help this ad hit some viewers right in the feels.
Kia
Like Hyundai, Kia brings the laughs with its commercial featuring Christopher Walken. With sock puppets to help explain the all-new Optima after popping out of a couple’s “Walken closet,” the accomplished actor shows how the Optima stands apart from the rest of the midsize segment.
Toyota
The all-new 2016 Prius stars in Toyota’s commercial, complete with a cheesy song and backup dancers for the big finale. Some might not agree with the lyrics that call the Prius “badass,” but the spot is entertaining nonetheless. And if you tweet during the big game with the hashtag #GoPriusGo, you may see your tweet on a post-game Toyota commercial.
