The off-road powerhouse Ram 1500 Rebel already has a bold and aggressive look that demands attention, and Ram is turning that up a notch with the Ram Rebel Black special edition debuting at the Detroit auto show next week.
The Rebel Black will be available in all Rebel exterior colors and adds black wheels, a brush guard, and an all-black interior for the first time. The black theme continues inside with all-black heated seats with Rebel embroidery, light slate gray accent stitching, black anodized bezels on the doors, center console, instrument panel, and gauge cluster trim rings. For those who enjoy some luxury in your off-roader, Ram offers the optional black leather Katzkin seats.
The Ram 1500 Rebel is one of the automaker’s most off-road-capable offerings, featuring a factory lift, 33-inch all-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, tow hooks, custom Rebel interior, and air suspension for increased ride height. The Rebel’s off-road big brother, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon, includes many of the same rugged goodies but also features a sky-high 14.3 inches of ground clearance.
“Adding the Rebel Black package to an already aggressive off-road truck will continue feeding the momentum Rebel is creating for the Ram Truck brand,” said Mike Manley, head of Jeep and Ram brands, in a release.
Ram joins the ever growing trend of “blacking out” vehicles with Black or Night packages. Ram recently did this with the 2017 Ram 1500 Night Edition that includes a gloss-black grille, blackout headlamps, black badges, and 20-inch semi-gloss black wheels. Some notable recent Night and Black editions include the many Chevrolet Midnight editions, Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Night Edition, Hyundai Tucson Night Edition, and the Porsche Cayman Black Edition.
The Ram 1500 Rebel Black is available in crew cab form only and powered by either the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 or the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6. The special model starts at $46,910 (including destination), and arrives at dealerships in March.
