It may be difficult to tell, but BMW has made a few cosmetic changes to its 4 Series cars. Along with new lights, the BMW 4 Series receives an updated body design and a few mechanical tweaks to keep it fresh.
Standard LED headlights replace the xenon units from the previous model. These lights complement new LED front foglamps and LED rear lights. Look closely, and you’ll also notice BMW has changed up the front air intake, increasing its size toward the outer edges. A silver bar frames the front apron on select models. BMW also tweaked the rear apron for a more “contoured” look.
Each equipment line—including the Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport—receives its own new unique wheel design. Sunset Orange and Snapper Rocks Blue are two new paint jobs available on the new model.
Inside the cabin, look for new electroplated elements as well as chrome touches, high-gloss black accents, and double stitching on the instrument panel. Buyers can now choose one of three new upholstery colors and three new interior trims strips. Along with new materials, BMW has updated the navigation menu system to make it easier to use.
Once again, the BMW 4 Series is available as a coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe four-door fastback. Around the globe, BMW will offer three gas engines and three diesel engines. Here in the U.S., we expect to once again receive a 2.0-liter turbo-four producing 248 hp and a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six making 320 hp.
On coupe and Gran Coupe models, BMW increased the stiffness of the suspension. BMW says it has improved lateral and longitudinal dynamics not only on the standard suspension, but also on the upgraded M and Adaptive suspensions. BMW says to expect more responsive steering and improved straight-line stability on the revised model.
BMW hasn’t forgotten about its top 4 Series model, the M4. These models receive standard adaptive LED headlights and full LED rear lights, as well as interior upgrades and the updated navigation system.
BMW hasn’t released full specs for the U.S. market. Globally, the updated 4 Series model will be available starting this March.
