The Nissan GT-R has broken its fair share of world records, including the fastest ever drift. Now, the supercar has set out to accomplish a more unusual goal: creating the world’s largest outline of a country.
To celebrate the 68th Republic Day in India, Nissan carved out an approximate map of the country over the Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan. Driving over the soft soil on a dry section of the lakebed, the Nissan GT-R was able to make a clear outline that was visible by camera drones above.
Professional rally driver Rahul Kanthraj makes the daunting task look effortless in the video below. In reality, the ordeal required running multiple laps and using GPS to make sure the outline was accurate. The map measures about 3 km (1.86 miles) in length and 2.8 km (1.74 miles) in width for a total outline periphery of 14.7 km (9.13 miles).
Folks from the Limca Book of Records were on hand to examine the world record attempt. The GT-R is set to enter the 2018 edition of the book once the feat has been certified.
