Porsche Macan Turbo Performance Package Adds 40 HP, Bigger Brakes

If you were holding out for a Turbo S variant of the popular Porsche Macan sport crossover, the new Performance Package might be the next best thing. With improvements to the engine, transmission, exhaust, and suspension, the Macan Turbo has all sorts of extra get-up-and-go straight from the factory.

Most importantly, the new kit boosts the Macan Turbo’s power output by 10 percent from 400 to 440 hp. Torque from the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 jumps as well, now peaking at 442 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 36 lb-ft. When equipped with this optional package, the Turbo will scoot to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds, an impressive 0.4 second drop over the “regular” Macan Turbo. Of course, this being Porsche, we’re sure that figure is conservative; we’d be willing to bet the 0-60 mph time is closer to the 4.0-second mark. If top speed is more your thing, that hops up by around 4 mph, settling in at 169 mph.

To rein in that extra juice, the front brake rotors are beefed up by 1.2 inches, now plate-sized 15.4-inch discs. Porsche also includes the wonderful Porsche Active Suspension Management in the package, dropping the ride height by 0.6 inches. If an air suspension is your style, the self-leveling setup is available with a height drop of 0.4 inches. The optional Sport Chrono pack is now standard with the Performance Package, adding a Sport Plus driving mode and a more aggressive exhaust system.

Unsurprisingly, these modifications won’t come cheap. The new kit adds around $10,000 to the purchase price, up from $76,000 to $86,445, excluding delivery.
