If boutique hypercar builders are good at anything, it’s offering a list of special editions and one-offs numbering almost as high as the car’s horsepower. Koenigsegg is no different, having just unveiled an uber-exclusive Agera RSR for the Japanese market.
With the debut of the Agera RS earlier last year, the Swedish automaker confirmed just 25 of these terrors would be spawned, each international market receiving its own special allotment. Apparently, just three were alloted to Japan, and each car will come with a special “RSR” designation.
According to Koenigsegg, the RSR customers were some of the earliest Agera RS buyers, and helped set the tone for available aerodynamic packages and customization options for future orders. In this pursuit, in place of a traditional “post-mounted” rear wing, each RSR comes with a wickedly svelte roof-fixed spoiler and a roof-mounted intake scoop, both features first seen on the One:1.
Inside, each RSR wears a wide range of colors, trims, and material appointments, our favorite being the RSR with the chocolate brown leather and carbon fiber cabin.
Underneath all of this fancy aero beats the same 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 from the regular RS, spitting out a monumental 1,160 hp. Unlike the all-wheel-drive Bugatti Chiron, a car that could be considered the Agera RS’ direct competitor, power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
This RSR reveal comes right on the heels of the Agera XS debut in Monterey. Like the RSR, the XS is a market-specific car that carries a heap of go-fast bits from the One:1, including rear wing, roof scoop, and carbon fiber wheels.
Take a look at the Agera RSR in the photo gallery below.
