Lamborghini presented Pope Francis with a special white and golden yellow Huracan. Since the humble Pope has no business riding around in a six-figure sports car, the Huracan will be auctioned off to benefit a number of charities.
The bespoke Huracan pays tribute to the colors of the Vatican City flag. Under the sheetmetal lies a 5.2-liter V-10 engine coupled to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. This particular model comes with rear-wheel drive, meaning it produces 571 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel-drive versions produce a more robust 602 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque.
Ad Personam, Lamborghini’s customization department, created the specialty model. With this service, Lamborghini buyers can personalize their car with an infinite number of combinations of unique colors and materials.
RM Sotheby’s will auction off the car on May 12, 2018. All proceeds will go toward charities that the Pope has chosen, including two organizations that work primarily in Africa to help women and children in need. Some of the money will also go toward The Pope John XXIII Community, which helps women who are victims of trafficking and other abuses.
Although it’s not a real Popemobile, we know the Huracan will sell for quite a bit of money. A Fiat 500L that once chauffeured Pope Francis around sold for an impressive $82,000.
