2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe Teased Ahead of Official Debut

Mercedes-Benz has teased the 2018 E-Class Coupe ahead of its official debut on December 14. Like its predecessor, the new two-door E-Class looks shorter than its sedan counterpart and it appears to have retained the pillarless design that’s been a feature of Mercedes-Benz coupes since the CLK-class.

The teaser also shows some key design features such as the rear taillight, which has a similar design as the large S-Class Coupe and the smaller C-Class Coupe. Inside, the car features the same two-screen design as the S-Class, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a silver analog clock. Up front, the new E-Class Coupe has the same front fascia has the sedan with headlights featuring two LED strips that split the cluster to give the car its signature four-eyed look.

Although Mercedes-Benz hasn’t announced much details about the 2018 E-Class Coupe, we can expect it to feature the same cutting edge technologies as the sedan such as the Drive Pilot semi-autonomous driving aid, a full active safety suite such as adaptive cruise control with start/stop function, and automatic emergency braking. The newest version of Mercedes’ COMAND infotainment system should also be available.

Expect the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe to comes with the 241-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four in the base E300 paired to the brand’s new nine-speed automatic transmission. A six-cylinder variant should also be part of the lineup but it’s unknown whether it will be badged as the E400 or as the AMG E43. Regardless of which name the six-cylinder E-Class Coupe will use, expect it to utilize a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6, which is rated between 329 hp to 396 hp and 354 to 384 lb-ft of torque depending on the model.
