Chevrolet has announced pricing for the 2018 Equinox, which starts at $24,475 including destination for a base front-wheel drive model. All-wheel drive is optional. In comparison to the car it replaces, the 2018 Equinox is around 400 pounds lighter thanks to a new platform that’s also used in the Buick Envision. Chevrolet says that the 2018 Equinox will originally launch with a 1.5-liter turbo-four that’s estimated to make 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
In the second quarter of 2017, a 1.6-liter turbodiesel I-4 with an estimated 136 hp and 236 lb-ft and a 2.0-liter turbo-four that’s expected to produce 252 hp and 260 lb-ft will join the engine lineup. GM’s new in-house developed nine-speed automatic will be paired to the 2.0-liter turbo-four and the diesel engine will come exclusively with the six-speed automatic.
Updated versions of Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with a seven- or eight-inch touchscreen will be available and come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. The 2018 Equinox will also be available with a 4G LTE connectivity via GM’s OnStar telematics services. A full active safety suite, which includes forward collision warning with following distance indicator, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert, will be available in the 2018 Equinox. Other features that will be available include a Surround Vision Camera system, GM’s new Rear Seat Reminder, and the Teen Driver system that allows parents to monitor their teenager’s driving habits.
