Float On: First Teaser Reveals “Floating” Roof of the 2016 Lexus RX

This is the first official teaser for the 2016 Lexus RX, and by Jo-o-ji , it looks just like the renderings we found in February.

With the side-glass area extending to through the C-pillar, Lexus designers evidently were clearly on the same wavelength—or imbibing the same substances—as the Nissan designers who created the “floating roof” look on the new Murano.

We won’t know what the front looks like until April Fool’s day, when we’ll see the 467-hp RX F premiere alongside the RX350. That’s the date of the Lexus press conference at the New York auto show, where we expect the new RX to be front and center.

This is the brand’s franchise player; last year, Lexus moved 107,490 RX models. Put another way, one out of every three Lexus buyers drove away in an RX. Given our experience with the smaller NX, we’re not expecting a sudden bout of sportiness to appear on the 2016 RX. The next 100,000 buyers probably won’t mind.
