Steven Tyler’s 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder Sells for Worthy Cause

Rocker Steven Tyler parted with his 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder for $800,000, auctioned by Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Ariz. The sale raised cash for a worthy cause, Tyler’s Janie’s Fund, a resource for girls who have faced abuse and need a place to turn to for help.

Tyler paid $1.1 million for his GT Spyder in 2012, so the lucky buyer seems to have made off like a bandit in the sale. To sweeten the deal, the Aerosmith lead singer even included a guitar autographed by the band and a vacation stay in his Hawaii home.

Just 12 convertible Hennessey Venom GTs were built. Under the hood, the GT is powered by a twin-turbo 7.0-liter V-8 engine that can get you from 0-60 mph is less than 2.4 seconds and can hit 265.6 mph if you feel the need for some serious speed.

“We raised enough tonight to provide 20,000 days of therapeutic support to abused girls across America,” Steven Tyler said in a statement.

“As a father to three daughters, a son, and now a grandfather, it broke my heart to learn that each year in America alone, 700,000 children are victims of serious abuse or neglect, and 68,000 will be sexually abused. Together through Janie’s Fund, we’re helping girls rebuild their lives and overcome the trauma they experienced.”

All proceeds from the sale will go to Janie’s Fund — for more info about the organization or to make a charitable donation, check out janiesfund.org.
