Four-Door Mercedes-AMG GT Concept Teased Ahead of Geneva

Rumors that Affalterbach was cooking up a four-door Mercedes-AMG GT appear to be true, as this teaser sketch shows. The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept will bow at the Geneva Motor Show this coming week sporting an extra set of doors.

We can see that the car retains its sleek coupe roofline and slender taillights. There’s also a large central exhaust tip integrated into the rear diffuser. It’s unclear if the size of the wheels is exaggerated in this sketch, but given that this is a show car, we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re drawn to scale. There are no door handles visible, possibly hinting that the concept will have electronic door latches.

Not much else is known about the four-door GT, but it will most likely challenge the Porsche Panamera and other four-door fastbacks if produced. The GT coupe is available with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 in various states of tune, and offers 456 hp all the way up to 577 hp in the AMG GT R. To better align with the Panamera range, a GT sedan could add AMG’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 to the engine lineup.

We’ll have to wait until the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT Concept is fully unveiled in Geneva to get a better idea of what the performance brand has in store. What do you think? Is a four-door AMG GT a good idea? Tell us in the comments below.
