Watch: Roadkill Detail the 1974 Chevrolet C10 Step Side Muscle Truck

The multi-primer-colored 1974 Chevrolet C10 step side aka the Muscle Truck is one of the most popular vehicles in the Roadkill fleet. On this extra episode of “Roadkill,” David Freiburger takes a walk around the Muscle Truck to show off its modifications and idiosyncrasies.

First, Freiburger confirms the year of the Muscle Truck as a 1974 according to the vehicle title. That being said, the truck has been pieced together with body panels from other trucks as well as aftermarket parts. He even suspects that the roof has been replaced and welded on from another truck. The wood in the bed floor has been replaced, while the cover over the kickup in the rear frame is beginning to rust due to lack of paint.

The Muscle Truck rides on a set of Cragar Soft 8 17×8-inch wheels all the way around wrapped in a 285/60/17 tire on the back and 225/55/17 tire up front. The rear end came out of a 1978 Ford F-100. A pair of 15×8-inch Wheel Vintiques steel wheels wrapped in 30×12.50×15 Mickey Thompson E/T Street tires, which are swapped out for the drag strip.

The front suspension is a mish mash of parts and rides on a set of two-inch drop spindles, Ridetech upper control arm and CCP lower control arm, and Mcgaughys shocks. The air ride suspension has been replaced with steel coil springs.

Under the hood, the Muscle Truck features an all-aluminum 5.7-liter LS6 V-8 with a Crane camshaft and roller rockers, mid-length headers, BBK SSI cast aluminum intake manifold, and MSD Atomic EFI. It also has an Areomotive fuel system. Although it has a nitrous plate and solenoids, the nitrous system has been removed. Other features include an Optima battery and more. The engine is backed by a Dynamic Turbo 400 with a full manual valve-body and a 4,000 rpm stall torque converter. With a 3.50:1 rear end gear ratio and a Gear Vendors over/underdrive unit, the Muscle Truck spins about 3,100 rpm at 80 mph.
