Ford will offer its track-ready Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang for another model year, the automaker confirmed today.
The 2018 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustangs arrive in dealerships this fall unchanged from the 2017 version. The only update is the addition of three new paint colors, which include Kona Blue, Orange Fury, and Lead Foot Gray.
The GT350 continues to offer a 5.2-liter V-8 engine making 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. In our back-to-back tests, the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, while the R version completed the run in just 3.9 seconds.
Standard equipment includes vented 15.5-inch two-piece front rotors, six-piston Brembo brake calipers, and a MagneRide adaptive suspension. Buyers can also opt for an Electronics package, which bundles together the Sync 3 infotainment system, voice-activated navigation, and a nine-speaker sound system. A Convenience package replaces the model’s Recaro seats with six-way power, heated and cooled sport seats with Miko suede inserts up front.
The timing of the announcement is no coincidence. Today marks the birthday of the Ford Mustang, which was first introduced at the World’s Fair in New York on April 17, 1964. Also arriving this fall, the standard 2018 Mustang receives a host of updates, including an updated design, more power, and a new 10-speed transmission.
