Hyundai announced the enhanced availability of its Blue Link system at the New York auto show this week. The feature, which offers emergency assistance and remote vehicle services, will be available at no charge for three years on all 2018 Hyundai models and 2017 Ioniq cars.
The deal includes the Hyundai Blue Link Connected Care package that offers collision notification, SOS Emergency Assistance, service reminders, and on-demand diagnostics. Typically, these features came free on most new Hyundais for one year. Other Blue Link features that are now free for three years include the Remote and Guidance packages. With these amenities, drivers can remotely start, lock, change the cabin temperature, or send addresses to the navigation system in their cars.
For 2018, Hyundai has improved Blue Link by adding a few extra features. On the new Elantra GT and Sonata, drivers can remotely adjust the rear defroster and heated side mirrors in addition to the cabin temperature.
As before, vehicle features can be controlled via smartphone, Amazon Alexa, or smartwatch. Now, Hyundai has added Google Home to that list, starting with the 2018 Sonata. By talking with the Google Assistant on their Google Home devices, customers can tell their cars to cue up an address, begin vehicle charging, or perform a host of other functions.
