Watch a Kangaroo Inexplicably Jump Toward a Moving Car, Wreak Havoc

A video has emerged on YouTube showing a kangaroo jumping onto a car that was on the move on a gravel road at night. You can see the kangaroo emerge from the left side of the road, probably about to cross. Instead of scurrying to the other side or freezing in place like a deer, the kangaroo does pretty much the last thing you’d expect.

The marsupial runs toward the vehicle and jumps on it, landing with an audible thump before rolling off the hood. To the left of the dash cam’s frame, you can see a crack in the windshield. The driver then gets out of the car to survey the damage to his vehicle. It’s unclear if the animal hurt itself in the impact or just hopped off into the night.

Hitting an animal with your car sucks. Beyond the guilt you feel, there’s the damage to your car and the constant wondering about how you could’ve avoided it. But in this case, it looks like the only way the driver could’ve avoided the accident was to not be there. It just goes to show you wild animals can be unpredictable. Give them their space.
