Earlier this year we caught the next-generation Bentley Continental GT testing on public roads, sporting an EXP10 face and the new modular MSB platform. Now, we’ve captured the Continental GTC wearing hardly any camouflage.
While the prototype drop-top may be virtually uncovered, it’s hiding its production design under plastic body panels. What we can see is elements of the front fascia. Despite the body cladding, the headlights and grille show through, giving us a glimpse of styling that will be very close to the EXP10 Speed 6 Concept that was shown at the 2015 Geneva auto show. The taillights are thinner than the outgoing model, and thanks to a wider body, the rear end looks less bulky.
We know that the Continental GT and GTC will ride on the MSB platform that currently underpins the Porsche Panamera, giving Bentley access to its sibling’s technology and offering the potential for a hybrid powertrain. Sharing the platform will also help Bentley cut costs and production time.
Under the hood, we expect to see a 4.0-liter V-8 engine, with the top-of-the-line model getting power from a 600-plus hp W-12 engine. The next-gen Bentley Continental GT and GTC may also feature a plug-in hybrid option, which will share its powertrain with the latest Porsche Cayenne and Panamera models.
