cars news 10: 2017 Nissan Titan Single Cab Revealed in Regular and XD Configuration

Looking to capture truck buyers and corporate fleets who use their pickups primarily as work tools, Nissan unveiled a two-door “single cab” configuration of its large Titan pickup truck.

Initially, the redesigned Titan was only available in four-door crew cab form. Nissan claims this is the first two-door Titan ever offered, and is the second of three total Titan cab configurations, including the aforementioned Crew Cab and an upcoming “King Cab,” what some other trucks call an extended cab.

The two-door Titan is offered with a choice of two powertrains, including the 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V-8 in XD trim and the tried-and-true 5.6-liter V-8 “Endurance” engine. The 5.0-liter in the XD is a potent stump-puller, with 310 hp and a whopping 555 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the 5.6-liter V-8, power is an impressive 390 hp and 394 lb-ft. Don’t expect to grab a diesel Single Cab Titan at launch, however; the 5.6-liter will be the first engine offered. According to Nissan, a new V-6 powertrain will be available in the future.

While the four-door Titan and Titan XD wear 5.5- and 6.5-foot beds respectively, each Single Cab truck features an 8.0-foot bed as standard.

Each Single Cab Titan arrives in either regular or heavy-duty XD trim, with different equipment levels for each truck. Rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are available.

Look for more information on Titan Single Cab pricing later this year. The Single Cab trucks will arrive at dealerships in late fall.
