cars news 10: 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Spied in the Buff

Our spy photographer caught a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk prototype sans camouflage testing on public streets. The Hellcat-powered SUV was spotted between FCA’s Auburn Hills Tech Center and the SRT headquarters.

While the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat models feature large center-mounted hood scoops flanked by a pair of heat-extractor vents, the new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will cool its 707-hp mill with a revamped front end. The slots on the brand’s signature seven-slot grille appear to be about half as tall as they are on other Grand Cherokee models, while a unique front fascia features three additional cooling inlets just below the grille.

The larger lower center air intake carries over, but is now flanked by two larger intakes that are pushed out to the lower corners. The outboard intakes also incorporate LED foglights. Additionally, a new intake slit has been added to the front bumper spoiler. From the angle of these spy shots, it’s hard to tell if the hood on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has heat extractor vents like the Dodge Hellcat models.

Power for the new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 making 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. With its all-wheel drive traction, we expect the Trackhawk to be the fastest Hellcat-powered model with a 0-60 mph time in the mid-3.0-second range.
