It’s face-lift time for the Q7, which is working hard to keep up with Audi’s new flagship SUV, the Q8. As we can see in these new photos, the Q7 adopts many sleek design elements from its coupe-like SUV sibling, and we’re not complaining.
Our spy photographers caught the Q7 and SQ7 cold weather testing recently. Both updated models feature a new grille inspired by the Q8. This new grille consists of vertical slats instead of the horizontal ones we saw on the old model. The white SUV in these photos is the Q7, and the black is the SQ7. The two vehicles feature different vents up front and different exhaust designs in the rear.
The second-generation Audi Q7 debuted for the 2017 model year. It debuted Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, which incorporates high-strength steel structural elements and aluminum body panels to keep weight down. Audi hasn’t announced powertrain options, but our current model offers a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 248 hp and a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 with 329 hp.
Expect the new Q7 to borrow cues from the Q8’s elegant interior. That model features two central screens, one controlling infotainment functions and the other controlling HVAC functions. It also offers a new voice control system as well as ambient lighting that runs along the door panels, center console, and dash.
