Jaguar Land Rover Expanding SVO Performance Division

Jaguar Land Rover launched its Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) program in 2014, which has produced a handful of custom vehicles including the Jaguar F-Type Project 7, Jaguar F-Type SVR, and Range Rover Sport SVR. Now, JLR is planning to expand the program by hiring 250 new employees this year.

SVO currently employs around 1,000 employees, including designers, engineers, and technicians, and will add the new jobs to support its growth strategy. Jaguar Land Rover has invested nearly $40 million into its new headquarters with around $26 million going to SVO and nearly $10 million going to Jaguar Land Rover Classic.

“The team is energetic, enthusiastic, and entrepreneurial. They are the principal reason that we have made a strong start in business since 2014. Now we have new facilities, technologies, products, and services in place to exceed the demands of our most discerning customers all over the world. I look forward to strengthening our team and delivering on this fantastic opportunity,” said John Edwards, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director, in a release.

Edwards went on to share SVO’s goal of launching one new car every year on average through 2020, with all new vehicles crafted in the new SVO Technical Center at Oxford Road in Coventry. The Technical Center will feature four areas, including the Commissioning Suite and Viewing Suite, where customers will be led by experts through the design and creation of their vehicles. The Manufacturing Facility, Paint Facility, and Technical suite will produce these vehicles and represent the pinnacle of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic will find a new home later this year, where it will continue its new “Reborn” restoration program, once JLR acquires a new site near the SVO Technical Center. This facility will also house car sales, restorations, service, and parts operations.
