Spied! Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Caught Testing in the Snow

The refreshed Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has been caught by our spy photographers in the icy north undergoing cold weather testing. At first glance you’d mistake it for a normal 718 Cayman until you look down and see the larger air intakes in the lower front fascia, which should help cool the brakes during track sessions.

Out back is where things get pretty obvious that this Cayman is the more potent GT4 variant. The fixed rear wing hints that this is a track day special and it should help produce some extra downforce to keep the car planted on the road. Other key differences include the split exhaust tips, which is a departure from the other Cayman models and the previous Cayman GT4, all of which feature dual center-mounted units. Looking at the prototype from the side, it’s clear that it’s equipped with massive vented disc brakes on all four corners complete with the requisite red calipers. The blacked out alloy wheels, on the other hand, are of the same design as the ones found on the outgoing car.

The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 should retain its naturally aspirated engine, so expect a version of the 4.0-liter flat-six found in the 911 GT3. Power ratings should check in at around 400 hp. If you were wishing for an optional PDK seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, you’ll probably be out of luck because a six-speed manual will likely remain the only gearbox on offer. Like the previous Cayman GT4, expect the new one to get a limited production run.
