Spied! Hyundai Full-Size Crossover Looks Like a Jumbo-Size Santa Fe

Hyundai’s upcoming large three-row crossover has been caught winter testing, and it looks like it’s going to borrow quite a few design cues from the recently revealed 2019 Santa Fe. The yet-to-be-named crossover has the same split headlight layout as the 2018 Hyundai Kona and 2019 Santa Fe, and the signature cascading grille appears even larger here. However, the pattern on the grille looks similar to the one found on the 2019 Santa Fe.

The unnamed three-row crossover also features a thick C-pillar, which should give it a more truck-like appearance compared to its competition, which includes the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. Its rear window appear to also hint at a wrap-around design similar to what you’d find in the Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Traverse.

In terms of dimensions, Hyundai’s large three-row crossover should be right in line with sister brand Kia’s Telluride, which we also spied recently. Expect seating for up to eight passengers and an option for second-row captain’s chairs. Don’t expect, however, an old nameplate to be reused because Hyundai has announced its three-row crossover will have a new name. That effectively rules out the revival of the Veracruz, Hyundai’s large crossover produced from the 2007 to 2012 model years.

Expect Hyundai’s upcoming large three-row crossover to feature similar powertrain choices to the upcoming Kia Telluride, which should sport a 3.3-liter naturally aspirated V-6 paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive should come standard with all-wheel drive optional.
