Nissan 370Z Snowmobile Ready to Ski into Chicago

Nissan hasn’t redesigned the 370Z in about a decade, and it will soldier on essentially unchanged for the near future. But lest we forget about the model, Nissan built this insane snowmobile version. In roadster form. The project vehicle, dubbed the 370Zki, is debuting at the Chicago auto show alongside a special, snow-ready Armada.

Following in the tracks of the Pathfinder, Murano, and Rogue Winter Warrior concepts, the Nissan 370Zki gets enormous Dominator rear snow tracks from American Track Truck, but also dons front skis that are 56 inches long and 12 inches wide. To make room for the tracks, Nissan first had to take the entire drivetrain out of the stock 370Z. Eventually, the seven-speed automatic and 3.7-liter V-6 were put back in, and the car still makes 332 hp like the normal model. It also retains its rear-drive setup.

The sporty snowmobile also features a custom lift kit that raises the car by 3 inches. Nissan modified the front and rear suspension, and 3-inch custom spacers connect the snow tracks to the wheel hubs. Nissan kept the factory brakes, but rerouted the brake lines. To accommodate the vehicle’s new proportions, changes were made to the exhaust system and rear wheel wells.

Along with the custom body wrap, the exterior features yellow headlights that are intended to resemble ski goggles. Tough we don’t know how often you’ll be putting the top down in the freezing cold, the 370Zki features a cloth power-folding roof.

A much more appropriate off-roader is the Nissan Armada Snow Patrol. Also debuting in Chicago, this model features 35-inch tall off-road tires, 20-inch wheels, and an LED light bar from Pro Comp. The suspension has been lifted 2 inches up front and 1 inch in the back for more ground clearance. Smittybilt contributed the off-road bumper with a mount for a 12,000-pound capacity winch, sport overfenders, side steps, and one-piece roof rack. Under the hood, you’ll find the familiar 5.6-liter V-8 engine producing 390 hp.

Inside the cabin, the Armada shows its softer side with leather-wrapped front seats with pearl color surfaces and cement color perforated inserts. The seatbacks also feature special logos.
