Report: Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer to Step Down

It sounds like there’s some corporate reshuffling going on at Bentley, and that reportedly includes finding a new CEO. Automotive News cites Germany’s Manager Magazin, claiming that Wolfgang Durheimer plans to step down. According to that same report, he will be replaced by Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Land Rover’s current head of strategy.

Durheimer has been Bentley’s chairman and CEO since 2014 and is simultaneously the president of Bugatti. He’s reportedly already told Volkswagen Group’s management that he’d like to step down, but at the moment, there’s no timeline available for his departure. We’re also not sure what his reasons are for stepping down or if he’ll step down from his position at Bugatti, as well. Stephan Winkelmann, current Audi Sport CEO and former Lamborghini boss, was previously rumored to succeed Durheimer at Bugatti.

In the past, Durheimer has been the head of both Audi and Porsche. His supposed replacement, Adrian Hallmark, is no stranger to Volkswagen Group, either. Hallmark worked at Porsche before making the jump to Bentley and eventually Volkswagen.

Bentley recently revealed the new Continental GT, and it hasn’t been that long since it introduced its first SUV, the Bentayga. There have been rumors that the next vehicle will be a smaller SUV or a sporty coupe based on the gorgeous EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. There have also been rumors that Bentley will go electric next, with something like the EXP 12 Speed 6e concept.

If the report is true, it will be interesting to see what direction Bentley’s new CEO decides to take the brand.
