Mazda has announced pricing details for its fourth-generation Mazda3 compact. The 2019 Mazda3 sedan will start at $21,895, including destination charge, when it goes on sale in March, and the hatchback will begin at $24,495.
These prices are higher than the competing Honda Civic. The 2019 Civic sedan starts at $21,170 when equipped with the CVT, while the Civic hatch starts at $22,370.
But no matter whether you choose the Mazda3 sedan or hatch, you’ll receive plenty of standard features. These include a six-speed automatic transmission, new 8.8-inch infotainment screen, eight-speaker sound system, LED headlights and taillights, push-button start, and a 7.0-inch TFT reconfigurable gauge cluster display.
The sedan comes standard with 16-inch wheels and cloth seats, while the hatchback gets standard 18-inch wheels and leatherette upholstery. Other standard features exclusive to the hatch include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic dual-zone climate control, and a safety suite with automatic braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and other features. To get these upgrades on the sedan, buyers will have to opt for the Select package costing $1,600.
A Preferred package is available for both the sedan and hatch. These models receive a 12-speaker Bose sound system, aluminum speaker grille, and SiriusXM radio with a three-month trial subscription. Other upgrades include heated front seats and eight-way power adjustability for the driver. Sedans with the package start at $25,095, while hatches are priced from $26,095.
Models with the Premium package are the most expensive. Leather seats, a head-up display, and power moonroof are among the upgrades. This package brings along a six-speed manual transmission option for hatchbacks only, priced from $28,395. The price is the same for the hatchback when paired with the automatic. Sedan versions start at $27,395.
When paired with all-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive, the base hatch starts at $25,895. Sedans start at $24,895 when equipped with all-wheel drive, and these models come standard with the Select package. Hatches with all-wheel drive and the Preferred package start at $27,495, and sedans at $26,495. For all-wheel-drive models with the Premium package, the prices are also marked up: $29,795 for the hatch and $28,795 for the sedan.
Prices announced today refer to models with the 2.5-liter engine good for 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. But we know that, eventually, Mazda will introduce a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-X engine. Stay tuned for pricing details on that high-tech powertrain option.
