Just like there’s no shortage of songs about the color black, there’s never going to be a shortage of special “Black Edition” vehicles. GMC is the latest to join the fray with its 2019 Acadia and Terrain special editions.
“The new Terrain and Acadia Black Editions perfectly capture the identity of the GMC brand by offering a bold and confident exterior appearance,” said Duncan Aldred, GMC VP, in a statement. “They give our customers more choices within the premium SUV segment to distinguish their vehicle and themselves.”
Unsurprisingly, both crossovers receive “darkened exterior treatments.” The Acadia Black Edition is available on the SLT Package that includes a black grille insert with a black surround for starters. It also receives black headlamp and taillamp details, black mirror caps, black roof rails, and rolls on 20-inch aluminum wheels with hot pink accents. Just kidding—they’re black too.
But, if you’re not that into black GMC will paint your ute in Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, White Frost Tricoat, Dark Sky Metallic, or Smokey Quartz Metallic.
The Terrain Black Edition is available on the SLE and SLT Packages and it receives pretty much the same treatment as the Acadia. That includes a darkened grille with black surround, black mirror caps, black roof rails, black badging, and 19-inch gloss black aluminum wheels. Other flavors offered include Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, Graphite Gray Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, and—new for 2019—Sedona Metallic.
If you want one of these black beauties, you’ll have to wait until the summer when the Terrain and Acadia Black Editions go on sale. Until then, crank up “Paint it Black,” “Back in Black,” “Fade to Black,” or the black-themed song of your choice.
