If you live in a major U.S. city, there are all kinds of apps to help you get around. But keeping all those apps on your phone can take up space, and it can be difficult to compare them. France’s PSA Group believes it has the solution to those problems: an aggregation app called Free2Move.
Free2Move currently allows users to compare available transportation services and use the one that best fits their needs. That includes comparing the cost of each service. Users can also schedule services in advance and pay for them through the app.
Free2Move has been available in Europe for a while, and PSA says it already has more than 400,000 users and supports about 30 different services. At the moment, American users can access Car2Go and ZipCar, and soon you’ll be able to use TravelCar and several bike-rental services like Ofo Bike, Lime Bike, and Spin Bike.
Although Free2Move was launched in Seattle, it’s available in any city that offers the services it supports. Presumably, PSA will add more services in the U.S. as Free2Move gets more popular.
“The decision to launch a service that helps people move around in the most efficient way underscores our commitment to the future of Groupe PSA,” said Larry Dominique, head of PSA North America. “As mobility services evolve and innovate based on the way people think about and consume mobility, bringing Free2Move stateside provides us with a unique way to address consumer demands, as well as a flexible platform to roll out future products.”
In the future, expect PSA to use the app to introduce Americans to some of its cars. Last year, the automaker announced plans to return to the U.S. within the next decade.
