Lamborghini may just add another seven-figure car to its lineup. Hot on the heels of the Centenario and Veneno, a new limited-series hypercar is under consideration.
According to a report from Autocar, Lamborghini boss Stefano Domenicali says the company is mulling an “extreme aero” car available in small quantities. The hypercar would likely use a naturally aspirated engine, and a hybrid system could aid power delivery. Competitors would include the McLaren Senna and Aston Martin Valkyrie, although it’s unclear how the Lamborghini would compare in terms of price. The Senna cost $958,966 in the U.S., while the Valkyrie set customers back around $3.2 million.
The new hypercar would likely slot above the Aventador Superveloce Jota in terms of aerodynamic performance. This carbon-fiber creation boasts 40 percent more downforce at both axles compared to the old SV, and it’s the quickest production vehicle to ever lap the Nürburgring. According to Domenicali, the SVJ and other Lamborghinis are not “one-lap cars,” but are built to maintain performance lap after lap.
An aero-focused hypercar is just one avenue Lamborghini is exploring to broaden its lineup. While a baby Urus SUV may be off the table, the automaker is eyeing electrification for the Aventador’s successor. Lamborghini has also expressed interest in adding a fourth mass-production vehicle to its lineup.
