McLaren 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection Lands in China

Enter the dragon—or rather you can enter this bespoke McLaren 570GT through its dragon-painted door. The McLaren 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection was unleashed in Beijing at the Auto China 2018 show this week. Only five examples are available.

McLaren Special Operations teamed up with Chinese fashion designer Ziming Yang, aka Mr. Cabbeen, to create this scorching set of wheels.

Granted, you can probably pick up a 570GT MSO Black Collection model and add your own dragons and paint the wheels gold, but it won’t look as cool as this beauty.

Aside from the hand-painted dragon door inserts in Gloss Speedline Gold, the car is bathed in MSO Bespoke Obsidian Black paint. It also has 15-spoke GT wheels and golden brake calipers.

“McLaren Special Operations is dedicated to providing customers with tailored choices that offer them almost endless personalization alternatives,” said Ansar Ali, MSO managing director, in a statement.

“As a fusion of contemporary British design style and Chinese classic art elements, the 570GT MSO Cabbeen Collection was created to satisfy Chinese customers’ desire for individualization and is further evidence of the growing interest in MSO services in the China market.”

Power remain the same: a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 engine with 562 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

The rear luggage deck sports a gold embroidered dragon by Mr. Cabbeen and is sewn by Kang Huifang, a preserver of the art of Chao Embroidery, we are told. Inside you’ll find carbon sill covers, plenty of Alcantara, and more golden dragons.

Pricing hasn’t been announced, but since Black Collection GTs start at $251,000 and only 100 were made, this limited edition of five should cost quite a bit more.
