2017 Cadillac XT5 First Look Review

The current 2016 Cadillac SRX has long been the brand’s best-selling model, and sales of the luxury crossover remain relatively strong; year-to-date sales are up 25 percent. Not bad considering the SRX first went on sale back in 2009. The 2017 Cadillac XT5, which is lighter, roomier, more upscale, is set to replace the SRX and is scheduled to debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Cadillac has been shedding curb weight throughout its lineup, and the CTS and upcoming CT6 are proof. The 2017 XT5 is no different. It’s estimated to be almost 300 pounds lighter than the SRX at 3,999 pounds for the front-drive model and 4,277 pounds with all-wheel drive. It should also be lighter than its competitors, including the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and the Audi Q5. Cadillac promises an improved ride thanks to a suspension setup that includes MacPherson struts up front and a multilink system in the back.

The XT5’s exterior dimensions are pretty much the same as the SRX, though Cadillac says interior and passenger space has improved. Overall length, for example, is essentially unchanged, but overall width grows 2.8 inches to 75.0 inches. The XT5 is taller, too, with an overall height 66.0 inches, an increase of 2.2 inches. More important, the XT5’s 112.5-inch wheelbase is a full 2.0 inches more than the SRX, which translates into 3.2 inches more rear legroom. Cadillac says the rear seats will now recline and slide forward and back.

As expected, the 2017 Cadillac XT5 will debut with General Motors’ new 3.6-liter, direct-injected V-6 and is estimated to produce 310 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The engine will feature cylinder deactivation to help boost fuel economy figures, and the sole transmission choice will be an eight-speed automatic. The automatic will feature Cadillac’s first-ever electronically controlled shifter. A 2.0-liter, turbocharged I-4 has been confirmed for China but not the U.S. The turbo-four could eventually be offered here, as could a new plug-in hybrid option. Adding both powertrains to the XT5 lineup is a no-brainer if Cadillac truly wants to take on its German and Japanese rivals.

In the styling department, the XT5 gets many familiar cues from its sedan siblings. The headlight treatment, for example, is a riff on the CT6, and the taillights are similar to the ATS and CTS. Like the Q5 and GLE, the overall look is a bit conservative, especially compared to the sharp and edgy 2016 Lexus RX. For more visual punch, customers can upgrade from the standard 18-inch wheels to larger 20 inchers, which also add continuous damping control. Interior design will look similar to other Cadillacs, and accents will include a choice of aluminum, carbon fiber, or wood.

Standard features include a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free liftgate operation, and an improved and more responsive CUE infotainment system. Optional items include a rear camera mirror system, LED headlights, a head-up display, and advanced safety technology such as adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.

Pricing hasn’t been announced but shouldn’t be too far off from the SRX’s base MSRP of $38,600. Cadillac says production of the 2017 XT5 will begin next spring. Based on the preliminary specs and details, the XT5 should continue the SRX’s reign as Cadillac’s best-selling model, especially if the range expands with the turbo-four and the plug-in hybrid options.

Gwen Stefani steps out in her new GMC Yukon

Gwen Stefani's garage houses everything from a G-Wagon to a minivan so it's only fitting that she's added a new GMC Yukon to the mix. Stefani was spotted getting out of the Yukon with her kids in Los Angeles this past weekend.

Is This Kendall Jenners ’57 Corvette?

nullAlthough she doesn't pose as much as her younger sister, Kylie, Kendall Jenner does love her selfies and giving her 40+M followers something to talk about.

Whilst Kylie grabs at any opportunity to show off her rides, Kendall has weirdly not felt the need to share a pic of this gorgeous '57 Corvette C1.

This begs the question whether it is actually hers, although according to TMZ, Kendall was driving the classic in Beverly Hills and it appears it was a 20th birthday gift she gave herself.

I hope it is hers - it would make a change for a Jenner or Kardashian to show some good taste.

Birdman Shows Off His Bentley Mulsanne

Birdman shared this photo of himself with his Bentley Mulsanne recently. Birdman's collection is pretty sick. Of course it's not quite Mayweather status since he only has the one Bugatti but no one can compete with Mayweather.

For Sale: Nicolas Cage’s Rare 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB

It's no secret Nicolas Cage has had some serious problems when it comes to his money. Somehow he managed to blow through a large portion of his fortune by spending it on all kinds of frivolous items over the years but what we didn't know is that one of those frivolous items included an extremely rare 6 Speed Manual Gearbox 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB. We're guessing he had to sell it when things went downhill and now the current owner's decided to move on as well for the small price of $599,120.

Check out all the photos here.

Ludacris Reunited With His Restored 1993 Acura Legend

We've mentioned Ludacris and his infamous '93 Acura Legend before, the last time because his favorite ride received some damage.

Thankfully, the guys at Acura Design studio in L.A. lavished some love on the rapper's car, installing a few modern touches whilst maintaining the overall 90s styling.

Acura’s global creative director, Dave Marek knew exactly what Ludacris was after: “We wanted to put our own stamp on the Legend while retaining the essence of the original that Ludacris has worked so hard to maintain over the years.”

As a car lover, I find it truly endearing that a rapper still has so much passion and love for their first ride, especially as it's a 90s Acura.

Check out the video of the reveal below and witness the true love.

Mazda RX-Vision: And Now the Bad News

Mazda RX-Vision: And Now the Bad News - Motor Trend
Up front: I dig the Mazda RX-Vision. It is stunning, and without question the star of the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Long, low, wide, sexy, with carbon-fiber wheels—in short, the RX-Vision is everything you want in a sports car concept. Even crazier, under that massive hood will one day, says Mazda, be a rotary engine
Up front: I dig the Mazda RX-Vision. It is stunning, and without question the star of the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Long, low, wide, sexy, with carbon-fiber wheels—in short, the RX-Vision is everything you want in a sports car concept. Even crazier, under that massive hood will one day, says Mazda, be a rotary engine (read about Mazda's rotary legacy here). Wankel lovers rejoice! Mazda is calling this future rotary the Skyactiv-R, and it claims that this new powerplant will be able to address the cylinderless engine's inherent Achilles' heels: fuel economy and emissions. And hey, 2018 marks the 40-year anniversary of the original RX-7. Talk about a feel-good little-sports-car-company-that-could story. They simply gotta do it!

Alec Monopoly Fills Up His Rolls Royce While Wearing a Bathrobe…

We're really not quite sure what's happening in these photos. This isn't the first time Alec Monopoly's stood on the hood of his Rolls Royce Drophead Coupe, but this is the first time he's done it in a bathrobe, sandals, and a mask.

He also wore his bathrobe and sandals while filling up the gas tank. What would you say to Alec if you ran into him at the gas station like this?
