Face-Lifted 2017 Volvo V40 Range Revealed Ahead of Geneva Debut

Volvo has revealed the face-lifted V40 and V40 Cross Country, which now feature the automaker’s new corporate face. The biggest change is the addition of the Thor’s Hammer headlights, which brings the models in line with the rest of Volvo’s lineup. The V40 is currently one of Volvo’s best-selling models in Europe, so the refreshed V40 range is an important debut for the Swedish automaker at the 2016 Geneva auto show.

In addition to the new front fascia, the 2017 Volvo V40 range gains five new colors, including Amazon Blue, Denim Blue, Busting Blue, Mussel Blue, and Luminous Sand. Like the 90 range, the V40 will also adapt the new trim levels that were originally introduced in the XC90, all of which have distinguishing features to set them apart from each other. In addition to the standard V40 and V40 Cross Country, the sporty R-Design trim returns as part of the V40 lineup.

Two new interior upholstery choices have also been added: two-tone charcoal/blond and City Weave, which features plaid inserts in varying shades of white and grey. Three new interior inlays have also been added, Milled Aluminum, Black Grid Aluminum, and Stealth Aluminum. Accent trim in the door inserts and contrast stitching will be offered for the first time in the V40, as will a black headliner option. R-Design and Inscription variants will be available with new tread plates while an updated key fob will be available.

Volvo’s On Call smartphone app has also been updated and now allows you to program a single physical smart button to perform multiple tasks, including locking, and turning your car on and off. The face-lifted V40 range also gains CleanZone technology, which filters outside air and removes harmful pollutants before they enter the cabin.

The -eneration Volvo V40 isn’t scheduled to come to North America. We reported that the next-generation 40 lineup, which will include the V40 and its Cross Country variant, a revived S40 sedan, and an all-new XC40 crossover, is headed to the U.S.
